9C1

The 9C1 handgun is a DAO pistol which incorporates a trigger safety, firing pin block, and a mag-out-safety.  It has a long but smooth trigger pull which is consistent over the length of trigger motion.  The firearm was designed to maximize its ergonomic characteristics, and to provide a small grip that men and women would find comfortable.  The firearm holds ten rounds in its magazine and its compact size makes it an ideal weapon for concealed or backup carry.

Development of the firearm evolved over five years where some 15 novel features have been submitted for patent protection.  The designers are pleased to present this high quality firearm to the American consumer at a very affordable price.

You’ll find the 9C1 handgun has surprisingly smooth and consistent shooting characteristics, and will be available soon.

I am currently in the market to buy my first gun ever. I live alone and travel by myself quite a bit and am beginning to feel the need to be able to protect myself. I would like to receive any information about this handgun that you now have available.

Thank you.
Rebecca

Dear Rebecca,

I actually designed the 9C1 handgun for people like you. It is manufactured with quality, and an attention to detail to put it in league with the market’s best offerings, however, we are aiming to provide it at a significantly lower price than anything currently being sold.

The 9C1 is a 9mm handgun with a grip smaller than most similar pistols on the market. Most men and women who have handled it have commented that it fits their hand very nicely. This handgun has very few external levers or features to complicate its operation, and it is ideal for concealed carry since the absence of these external levers will minimize it hanging or catching on holsters or clothing.

California regulations are fairly demanding and rigorous, and we are currently going through testing to get this handgun placed on California’s centralized list to allow it to be sold and manufactured in this state.

We are hoping to have it available to the public the first quarter of 2008, however, the bureaucratic process is unpredictable.

If you are in the market for a handgun immediately, Beretta, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Glock and H&K all make fine offerings. Kimber and other more specialized American manufacturers also build beautiful pieces, but they can be pricey.

I am partial to H&K, but here again, you’ll spend upwards of $700.00-800.00.

Glocks are a bit more reasonable, but you will find they are “eager to fire”, and more than one police officer has discharged his weapon inadvertently. This seems to happen more often with Glocks than some of the other offerings because of their safe-action system which partially cocks the striker to an intermediate position reducing trigger pull and length. For a well trained person it is a good system, but it will not allow you to pull the trigger a second time if a cartridge fails to discharge because of a hard primer.

The 9mm round offers fairly good stopping power and is considered a good self-defense round. This is also the most widely manufactured and distributed round making it the lowest in price for a medium powered cartridge.

.380’s are often recommended to women wishing for a lighter recoil, however, since .380 caliber handguns are normally manufactured with a straight blow-back design rather than a locked breech design as are most quality 9mm handguns, the recoil felt by the user is not appreciably less. While the total power in the .380 recoil is less, because the straight blow-back design provides a quicker and sharper movement of the action, the user might actually think the recoil is worse. For this reason, I cannot see choosing the lighter cartridge. This is just a generality, however, and the only way to know for sure is to test the particular offering with the intended ammunition you will use.

If you are interested in concealed carry, our handgun is as small as can be manufactured in California by law, 6.75” long, and it is concealable. Smaller handguns are available in other states and they will give you more versatility, but they can also be more difficult to handle.

The 9C1 handgun incorporates a “Double Action Only” mechanism which means it has a long and firm trigger pull and the pistol never remains in a “cocked” position. DAO is the safest type of action and will deter accidental discharges. It is excellent for self-defense, but it would not be the best choice for competitive target shooting.

I hope this helps, Rebecca.

Best Wishes,
